Love the easy installation and how easy it was to code my lock. For a person who frequently forgets her keys, this lock solves so many problems.
I really wish I bought this a while ago. Super easy to install and priceless piece of mind! I love the automatic lock after 30 seconds feature incase I forget to lock the doors or have a bunch of stuff in my hands! Well worth the price (which is cheaper than Home Depot, lowes)
Easy to use, works great
Install was easy, it's easy to use and its solid.
Slightly irritating when you tear apart your door, put this machine in, and then realize that the locking mechanism doesn’t match up. Then go through the entire process of replacing the old one, sending this back, blah blah. I’ve had this product before, I enjoy it, but slightly upset I have to go through the bs. Nowhere in the description does it say which way your lock goes, right or left. That’s kinda important.
Took 10 minute to replace the old deadbolt, prior to installing did a YouTube search for installing Kwikset 909. Programming was easy peasy, the video went a long ways for show and tell than actually reading the written instruction. Got it set with 3 programmed codes and 30 second auto lock. Highly recommended, it was time to replace the mechanical as I paid more for a locksmith to pick the lock the last time I was traveling and my son locked himself out of the house. Worth the investment.
I bought a kwikset smartkey deadbolt first and it was very complicated to program and also to install. I gave up on it and purchased this amazon basics lock and had it installed and working in 15 minutes. Seriously. I would highly recommend this lock. And it is like $60 cheaper than the kwikset lock I threw away.
Looked at a lot of electronic locks and decided on this one. It was less than half price of the others and did everything I wanted except for being connected to the internet. Love that it stores multiple codes for different users. The auto lock feature is nice and it looks great. Very happy with my choice.
Wanted a basic keypad lock for front door, tired of keeping track of keys. Was happy with appearance & quality, installation was easy. Was not happy with trying to program code & lacking instructions. Somehow managed to get code to work, operates smoothly. Can’t beat the price.
It works great...after you piss around with the left/right setting. It took 7 tries to get that part right. Other than that, the lock works great
took me sometime to install. realized batteries were new and hence was facing error with configuration. worked great after changing batteries
This is so easy to install and use. You even can mute the button sounds. It also is nice looking.
Easy to put in and I’m a housewife/nurse
Nice item no issue so far and I will buy again for other doors.
I really like the look of this lock and am excited to use it!
It was HARD to install. Lots of tears and settling for it being slightly crooked. Maybe my door just sucks???
Great basic electronic keypad. It has a longer than expected installation time but everything you need to do the job is included in the box minus the Phillips head screwdriver so it’s ready to go.
Solid,easy to install,easy to program
Looks great! Easy to install, functions perfectly, highly recommend.
Like the look and fairly easy to I stall
Great ,easy, love it
Well designed and easy to install.
I am getting ready to replace some of the entry doors in my home and definitely wanted to replace the 50 year old door knob locks and deadbolts. The AmazonBasics line had the looks i was looking for but actually didn't know much about them. Anyone familiar with door knobs knows the Kwikset and Schlage lines, they are sold in every Walmart, Target, etc across the country. They are both very reasonably priced and have been around for decades. Obviously, there are many other lines of locks, but for most people, spending upwards of $50 to $100 or more per door can get very expensive and cost prohibitive. The Amazon line of locks seems to be priced in between Kwikset (lower priced locks) and Schlage (upper priced but still reasonable). I ordered the Traditional Electronic Keypad Deadbolt and a Wave entry lever, both in bronze. The prices were more than reasonable compared to other brands, although never seeing these locks before, i really didnt know what brand to compare them to. When they arrived i was more than pleased. The colors matched dead on, and both had the weight and feel of what i would expect from a good quality lockset. I have never installed an electronic keypad deadbolt before so didnt know what to expect. Entry levers i have installed many times over the years. I started with the deadbolt, this was something new for me and wanted to check out how it worked. For some people, when they open the box and see all kinds of parts and pieces it may seem a little over whelming, but don't let it. It turned out to be a very easy install, and very similar to installing a dead bolt. If you are replacing a deadbolt already installed, after removing the old one, the new Amazon one should fit right in its place without having to do anything. There is an adjustable latch for different doors, and should fit just about any door out there. If this is a new install, and the hole isnt already there for a dead bolt, all the necessary templates are included to work from. You will also need a 2 1/8" and a 1" spade bit, a chisel, drill, and assorted wood working tools. A new install may be to much for some people, but if you have the tools, and follow directions exactly, now's the time to learn. And, there isn't anything you couldn't find an answer to if you had a question online. Google can be your best friend with a question, and YouTube to watch someone else do it first. I'm an old timer who grew up on a construction site. First picking up trash as a kid, but then learning everything there was to know about building a home from my old man. What i learned over the years i use to this day, and i miss my old man tremendously. But that's another story. If this is a replacement for a standard deadbolt, it's straight forward and very easy. I had a harder time, at first, figuring out the key codes than actually installing the lock. One note, it requires 4 AA batteries to work, they are NOT included. Be sure to have some so you can see how the lock works after installing it. You can still use it as a standard dead bolt with the turn knob if you don't have batteries. If this is your first time installing a replacement dead bolt, just follow the directions. It's not very hard at all. The only big difference is the plate installed on the interior of the door, which just screws into the cylinder and tightens to the door. Then the interior box that holds the bats and knob screws to the plate. About the quality. AmazonBasics makes a nice line of locks here. I obviously can't speak for the whole line. But, if what i got was a representation of the rest of the line, it's a very nice, heavy duty, quality lock. It's not as heavy as you will get with a $100+ dead bolt, but will definitely stand up to a Schlage lock any day, and, i think, a better quality than a Kwikset lock, and for not much more than what you'd pay for a similar Kwikset model. The one and only problem i couldn't find an answer for anywhere was about rekeying the locks. I wanted to use my old keys, but local hardware stores right now only rekey Kwikset and Schlage. I couldn't find who makes AmazonBasics line of locks. I actually believe it could be Kwikset, but have no way of knowing 100%. I think whether these can or can not be rekeyed should be included in the descriptions. On the other hand, i just can't imagine Amazon coming out with a whole line of locks that could not be rekeyed to one another or to old keys. It just wouldn't make sense. If you bought new Amazon locks and deadbolts for your whole home, you'd want the same key for all. In short, these are very nice. I can absolutely see spending a few extra bucks for these over Kwikset, and saving a few bucks over buying Schlage. Obviously, i can't speak for how long they will hold up yet. They are brand new. The electronic keypad works like a charm. It was easy to configure once i figured out how the codes work, and the latch slides in and out like i was manually doing it. This lock doesn't work with Alexa or any app. There is another line either already out or coming out for that. This is a basic electronic keypad, but well worth the money, if like me, you don't need to lock/unlock your door from around the block or from work. I can see how with a family with kids this could be very practical. But for a retired person, no kids living at home (for now anyways!), and one who doesn't leave home very often, this is perfect. Definitely well worth the $50 bucks. I also installed the AmazonBasics Oil Rubbed Bronze Wave Entry Lever. The review for that is under that product listing.
I installed a Kwikset electronic lock on our house that worked great, until the battery started dying within a couple of weeks. I replaced the battery twice and it kept dying in a few weeks. Ugh. I finally replaced the lock with an AmazonBasics lock. This one performs much like the Kwikset lock-easy to install (I have experience), easy to change codes and works smoothly. The one difference is it doesn't die in a few weeks. At last, a lock that I can depend on. Here are the features: -electronic mechanism. The bolt engages with a quick touch of a button and disengages when you enter the code -mechanical mechanism. You can use a key to open the door if necessary. -nice finish. I'm not into polished chrome. Fingerprints. -timed automatic locking. The lock engages after a specified amount of time as a safeguard in case you forget to lock the door. This only works if you have your door firmly shut. -good quality. It's not a Schlage, but overall it's a nice piece of hardware. -easy to install if you have some minimum skills -easy to set codes. There is a master code, as there are with all electron locks. Once you put the master code in, you can change it to the numbers of your choosing. Make sure to clear the default code. You don't want that code floating around. Altogether, this is a pretty solid buy.
If you've used a keypad lock and a handle but not a keypad deadbolt, there's something that I'd like to mention. With a keypad lock, the batteries are used to engage a link that allows the bolt to move when you turn a knob or a handle. There's no actually movement of the bolt caused by the lock itself. With a keypad deadbolt, on the other hand, there is no knob or handle - so the batteries are moving the bolt in and out. One aspect of that fact is that a keypad lock with a handle can relock with the door open and everything works fine...the door will just be locked when you close it. With a keypad deadbolt, if you set it to automatically lock itself after a period of time, the door has to be closed for that work because the system will just extend the bolt after a period of time...if the door is open, well, you get the point. Now, as for this particular model, I think it's pretty decent. Installing it gave me an impression of it's quality and security, and right or wrong, I don't trust it as the only lock on my door. The bolt and door plate feel plenty strong, but the main unit just feels a bit flimsy to me. It might be just as hard/easy to break into as my Schlage and Kwikset locks, but it doesn't feel as strong. So, I put a locking handle from Baldwin on that same door for some added peace of mind. It is pretty easy to install, and it's easy to set your own codes. If you reset the master code that allows you to set codes in the first place, definitely write it down somewhere. :) And, you probably want to reset that code because the default is really generic and might be the same for every one of these that they sell - meaning that someone could unlock it if they know that code and you haven't reset it. I do think it looks nice in Satin Nickel. Not quite as refined as higher end locks that have a nicer outer clear coat/shine on them, but pretty nice. I think it's a decent lock, but I don't trust it as the only lock on the door. As a secondary lock, though (which all of my entry doors have), I think it's a good choice.
I needed to get an electric keypad for my shed door so my landscaper could get into the shed without me having to provide a key. This seemed to be an excellent solution. My husband installed it in no time with a Phillips screwdriver. I really like the fact that it is has up to 50 programmable user codes. This way if I ever have to change the code, I have plenty of options to choose from. The keypad is backlit, which really helps when it is getting dark outside. The oil bronzed finish looks great and it has help up well in the elements. I am not a huge fan of needing 4 AA alkaline batteries. It seems as if they will constantly need changing based on the amount of use. I have not had to change them yet, so I will hold my opinion. Additionally, I would be sure to measure prior to getting this product. Prior to putting it on the shed, I walked around to the other doors to determine if I wanted to get one for the front or back of the house. The height of this product makes it so that it will not fit between the standard door knob and the deadbolt.
Bought 4 of these for interior office doors. Love them!
I haven’t used it yet it is going on a new house so I don’t know if I like it yet or not.
best choice I ever made was getting this
Very good
This lock uses the 13.56Mhz close proximity tags (10cm and closer). This is perfect for duplicating the "key" using your NFC communicator in your phone. I have this set up as the front door to my business and it works as it is expected to. Very easy to add key fobs and remove them from the system. Worst part is the installation which requires a 3rd hole drilled into the door just for the wire to connect through!!
works well
This lock is everything I needed it to be. I have disabled parents and the remote makes it so easy for them to get in. My entire family is happy we made this change. I would recommend you have it installed if you aren't a handy person.
Great quality. I haven't installed yet, but this lock will do everything I need it to do. I contacted the seller and he was extremely helpful and prompt in getting back with me. Will look at his products first if I need anything else.
works great
Little hard to set up but well worth the time! Very durable. Will need to hold on to the directions because it can do so much you cam never remember everything it can do.
Easy to install, easy to setup a user code. Installation video is available on YouTube. I purchased one while is on sale. Good value smart lock. I liked the best is battery cover. Easy to remove battery cover to change a battery.
Exactly what I wanted..I have wanted one of these for several years so I finally bought one. It is fantastic, no keys to worry about. I actually ordered one for my brother for Christmas.
Installation was fairly simple, it took me 30 min in total to remove old unit and install the new one. I believe it's a good quality product and I would definitely recommend but I wouldn't really pay over 100$ due to lack of smart features.
The instruction paper is very clear and on point, really easy to install.
I've been using these types of locks for a while on different doors, and though they look very similar, the construction quality varies between brands. These Kwikset locks offer a good balance between price and quality, and the exposed lock side is smaller and less noticeable that some of the others. Installation takes about 10 minutes if you are replacing an existing lock (it comes with templates and instructions if you need to drill holes). The code programming process is simple but you should keep the instructions, since you would never guess the keycodes needed to make changes. This unit doesn't offer any phone or Bluetooth integration but honestly that tends to be very buggy and gimmicky anyway. I've had this installed on my front door for a month so far and we're really happy with it.
Absolutely love this, never have to worry about batteries running out. It's amazing and easy to use or change the lock
It’s really analog. This means no batteries ?. It will be a pain to change 6 digit password. I needed to put a caulk seal behind the top part of the door lock as it was loose and moved when I turned the knob. Easy fix. Let me be clear, THE PRODUCT WORKS AS INTENDED. It is a good buy for the price and, most importantly I think it is probably more durable for exposed exterior doors than a digital door lock that requires batteries!
LOVE this Keyless lock, also with keys,if i forgot to bring my keys i could still open my door.it was easy to install and perfect fit, nice to look at.
I love this deadbolt lock.Easy to install and easy to operate.
Easy to install and easy to setup the pass codes. With more options than most need.
Work great, very happy with it.Easy installation at a reasonable price.
Can be opened with a Key of Pass Code. No Batteries are need , this is all mechanical. Easy to install on scale of 1 to 10, this was 8. Does not lock automatically. You have to use the knob, key or keypad to lock.
It is very good lock. I needed it. I recommend that it is a very good product
While this is a little strange, it works really well. I will say that you can use your four numbers in any order and it'll unlock, but I love being able to give the code to whoever I wish instead of a key!
